Some questions regarding Linux accessibility needed for an article in the C'T magazine

Hi,

I have the possebility to support writing an article regarding Linux 
accessibility for blind people in one of the biggest German computer 
magazines called "C'T" from the Heise publisher the together with an 
author who is responsible for creating linux based content for this 
paper very ofthen. The author asked me the following questions and I'd 
be very happy if you write me your comments for his questions please.


Question 1: Is Mate the only desktop environment that can be used by 
blind Linux users?

Hehe, I know this is not the case, but why do you prefer other desktop 
environments? Which desktops do you use?


Question 2: What can we expect by the new accessibility frameworks 
Newton and AccessKit? Whats your opinion about this new frameworks? Are 
they usefull or just another new technique which is not really neccessary?

Here my technical knowledge is just not big enough to tell the author 
something really usefull. Can you help me out with this point please?


Question 3: Is the new Wayland framework a showstopper for blind Linux 
users? If yes, why, and if not, what are the current problems with 
Wayland regarding the usage of Orca and are there workarounds to handle 
the current difficulties?

I do not use Wayland and for that reason I have no experience regarding 
problems or difficulties using it and the things that are still missing 
to have the same ease of use we have with Xorg. So, what are the 
problems, what will change with Wayland, what is still working and what 
will not longer function with Wayland?
