You can use something like https://github.com/danielricks/textplayer around dfrotz which will allow you to only read the new stuff. Some assembly required depending on what you want to do. I used it to build a plugin for a voice assistant a few years ago (https://github.com/aaronchantrill/NaomiFrotz).
