Dear fellow developers,

This message supersedes the DFSG delegation announcement sent earlier
today.

The delegation text below includes an explicit revocation of any
previous DFSG delegation not listed, which was unintentionally omitted
in the earlier mail. The scope and intent of the delegation remain
unchanged.

As per Debian Constitution =A78, I hereby appoint the following developers
as members of the DFSG, Licensing & New Packages Team ("DFSG Team"):

 * Andrew McMillan         (awm)
 * Emmanuel Arias          (eamanu)
 * Nicolas Mora            (babelouest)
 * Mechtilde Stehmann      (mechtilde)
 * Reinhard Tartler        (siretart)

Any previous DFSG team delegation not explicitly listed above is
revoked. The delegation is not time-limited and will remain in effect
until further changes by the present or a future Project Leader.

At his request, Ansgar is no longer part of this delegation. I thank
Ansgar for his long-standing and valuable contributions to FTP Master
and Archive Operations team, which are sincerely appreciated.

I would like to thank Thorsten Alteholz, Joerg Jaspert, and Luke W.
Faraone for their long-standing work and commitment within FTP Master
and the DFSG, Licensing & New Packages Team, as well as for their
continued contributions to Debian, in particular within Archive
Operations team. Their efforts have been, and continue to be, important
for the project and are sincerely appreciated.

Task Description
----------------

The DFSG, Licensing & New Packages Team ensures that new packages entering =
the
Debian archive comply with the Debian Free Software Guidelines[1] and relev=
ant
licensing requirements.  Its responsibilities include:

 * Defining and applying the interpretation of the DFSG that governs
   which software is acceptable in the Debian archive.

 * Deciding on the inclusion or removal of packages in the Debian
   archive based on DFSG and licensing compliance.

 * Accepting or rejecting packages in the NEW queue, covering:
    - DFSG acceptability and licensing for both old and new packages
    - Package quality standards for new packages

 * Ensuring packages respect the DFSG and applicable licensing and legal
   requirements, and removing those that conflict.

 * Communicating transparently about the status of packages in NEW.

 * Applying rules and standards for package acceptance in line with the
   Debian community's consensus, and avoiding the introduction of
   additional requirements without such feedback.

 * Documenting the team's policies for accepting packages.
