--hTmccHP/uQKenC3R Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hi, the salsa CI runner infrastructure has been migrated to a new autoscaling setup. What this means for you: New shared runners ------------------ salsa-runner-a.debian.net (amd64) =E2=80=94 picks up untagged jobs like bef= ore salsa-runner-a-arm64.debian.net (arm64) =E2=80=94 picks up jobs tagged arm64 Build machines are now created on demand on Google Cloud (the compute resources are kindly sponsored by Google) and are destroyed after each job, so every job runs on a fresh, isolated VM. Capacity scales automatically with demand, which should noticeably reduce queue times during busy periods. Privileged builds (sbuild, autopkgtest) and the shared build cache continue to work as before. The previous runners will keep running alongside the new ones for a few more days and will then be retired. arm64 jobs ---------- After the Equinix-sponsored ARM machine was decommissioned, salsa had no arm64 capacity for a while =E2=80=94 this is now back as a proper instance-= wide runner. Simply tag your jobs with arm64. One caveat: the new machines (Google Axion, ARM Neoverse V2) cannot execute 32-bit ARM code, so armel/armhf binaries won't run on them; cross-compiling for those architectures works fine, and for executing 32-bit binaries qemu-user emulation is the way to go. If you notice jobs behaving differently than on the old runners, please report it at https://salsa.debian.org/salsa/support. A special thank you goes to Bastian Blank (waldi) =E2=80=94 this migration = would not have been possible without him. Thanks also to Google for sponsoring the compute resources.
