And here are logs from my DHCP server showing that installer sent an
explivit release as soon as I proceeded past the domain name question:

2026-08-09T05:09:34.973578+00:00 bftools kea-dhcp6[1613848]: INFO  DHCP6_PACKET_RECEIVED duid=[00:01:00:01:32:0a:ba:e6:ac:1f:6b:76:f8:4e], [no hwaddr info], tid=0x57aac5: RELEASE (type 8) received from fdbf:ce15:9030:a8ae:5218:884b:a17e:ebb5 to 2a0a:1100:1::4 on interface enX0

(fdbf:ce15:9030:a8ae:5218:884b:a17e:ebb5 is address of my DHCP relay as
the DHCPv6 server is not on the same network segment.)

Is it expected for debian-installer to do this? It never asks for a
lease again.

Thanks,
Andy
