Backport of debootstrap, for newer Ubuntu releases?

Dear deboostrap Maintainers,

would you consider backporting debootstrap to trixie so that newer
Ubuntu releases would be made available to tools such as autopkgtest?

In particular, autopkgtest-build-qemu seems to need it. For example, the
following command (eventually) fails because the symlink for resolute is
missing. It was added in 1.4.2.

    $ sudo autopkgtest-build-qemu resolute resolute-amd64.img http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu
