"USB" ISO sets / apt-cdrom USB counterpart?

Good evening/morning everyone,

I find myself in a thought: as USB media becomes cheaper and cheaper,
more so than even Blu-Ray discs or especially DVDs, why not a full USB
set, for 16 or 32GB flash drives? Or at the very least, more automated
support for people who need to use flash drives with apt-cdrom, rather
than having to constantly go back-and-forth between consoles to mount
and unmount them manually.

My thought is hypothetically, some udev rule or other such config
could be use to auto-detect such a thing on a USB and auto-mount it to
something like /media/usb (instead of cdrom).

T'was just a passing thought.
