Still it would actually be nice to have an indication somewhere in /etc
indicating what software suite (installer, debootstrap, mmdebstrap,
live-installer etc) generated the image. Thanks for that idea!

Can you elaborate on that? Why does providing more and better
information make it harder to identify bugs?
