What do you mean when you say you've had a "debian-based system
certified SIL1"?

Do you mean you used Debian kernel? Or did you just certify a part of
the system? How much of the system was Debian in the sense that it was
the way Debian packages the library? 

Having a safety-critical Debian would be useful in the automotive
industry which is looking to certify Debian as ASIL B.
