To Debian Games Team,

Well, I haven't had any protests, and I have good news and bad news
from my testing of the n64 build.

The good news is that all the games I tested booted up and worked.
The bad news is that the performance of some games was _appalling_.
Bear in mind that my CPU is no slouch. The games run just fine when
targeting x86-64-v2.

Granted, most games this only results in a frame drop for a second
or two and only a few games have serious framerate issues.
Unfortunately, two of those games were Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.
If we put out the n64 core on v1, we're going to get complaints
about performance. This could also create friction upstream, if
people report the issue there (upstream officially requires v2).

As I see it, we could:
* Leave the package as is, without n64 support
* Enforce x86-64-v2, slamming the door on anyone still using a v1
cpu

Option 2 feels mean. Like I said before, it's such a small change to
d/rules we can always revert it if a lot of people complain, and it
would bring the package in line with upstream (It does feel mean,
though). What do?

Regards,

David James
