Now it seems that is working. No, the repo is not broken. They key has 
been this step, from the debian wiki:

"If you receive an error in Salsa CI that gbp cannot find any branches 
you may need to change Settings > CI/CD > General Pipelines > Git 
Strategy from Git Fetch to Git Clone."

Once I changed it, the runner worked as expected.

And yes, I'm in contact with Timo, I try to help to maintain this 
packages, as other for the Robotics team.
