And I have made the following statement many times on this discussion before, 
but it bears repeating *because the future of Debian depends on us getting 
this right*.

Debian is full of members who hold a wide range of political and religious 
views.  Every Debian contributor holds at least one view that another 
contributor strongly disagrees with.  If we allow Debian contributors to vent 
their personal opinions as part of the project, eventually everyone will be 
offended and the project will split apart.

To the specific issue of wars, we are entering an era where more and more 
Debian contributors will live in countries that are at war with each other.  
Debian *cannot* be the place where those wars are litigated.

Debian contributors may engage in those discussions in other venues, but this 
is not the place for them.
