The other side can't see the mask you set up. /128 is just the single IP
you announce.

If anything you could run tcpdump to correlate the events. But also I
think it's at your hoster to explain you what you're doing wrong.
Your configuration (not knowing any sysctls you might have set manually)
does look correct. The gateway is even in the same subnet.
