--=-=-= Content-Type: text/plain M-flag means go **try** DHCPv6 to get an IA_NA. The DHCPv6 server might be absent, broken, or might refuse an address. As was said, it doesn't mean to ignore the RA. Given that CLAT (NAT64) seem to need SLAAC in order synthesis an additional v6 for the CLAT, and this seems to be a requirement for Win11 CLAT (see: https://ripe92.ripe.net/programme/meeting-plan/sessions/94/ "IPv6-only desktop", and in particular "IPv6-only Network Design" for some interesting discussion) then it seems like the Enterprise preference for DHCPv6-only may lessen. Noting that there is now an additional RA-flag: P: RFC9762 that says that IA_PD is available. If set, it effectively suppresses the SLAAC generated addresses, but I think that it ought not cancel processing of RDNSS, and I tend to think that the list of resolvers found via RA and DHCPv6 ought to be merged, and made unique. I don't think resolvconf can do that, but I could be wrong. -- ] Never tell me the odds! | ipv6 mesh networks [ ] Michael Richardson, Sandelman Software Works | IoT architect [ ] [email protected] http://www.sandelman.ca/ | ruby on rails [ ] My working hours and your working hours may be different.
