Distribution of CDDL binaries in contrib

Dear debian-legal,
 
I recently raised #1128061 "zfs-linux: Consider building and uploading zfs-modules-<KVER> packages" on the zfs-linux source package to open a discussion around building and distributing ZFS kernel modules in the Debian archive.
 
I'm familiar with the historical issues of ZFS distribution and the already-discussed issues with distributing CDDL-licensed code as part of the kernel due to its incompatibility with the GPL. However, the discussion I'd like to have is not about that - rather, I'm wanting to get clarification on any blockers of shipping prebuilt ZFS modules in separate packages via the contrib section of the Debian archive.
 
The specific proposal is to compile the ZFS kernel modules ahead of time as part of the normal build of zfs-linux, and distribute them in a zfs-modules-<KVER> package. No changes to the kernel packages or to other packages in main are in scope.
 
Against that backdrop, I have the following questions:
 
1. Is there anything preventing Debian from distributing CDDL-licensed binary objects in contrib?
2. Is there anything preventing Debian from distributing CDDL-licensed kernel modules in contrib?
 
If the answer to both of these is "no", are there any other issues preventing prebuilt ZFS modules from being distributed as a separate zfs-modules-<KVER> package in the contrib section of the archive?
