This is an OpenPGP/MIME signed message (RFC 4880 and 3156) --2FnLQiuL99MjtrbnXuWPVrSSKMJSC7IhI Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="TVfScC6gIpuCRoVdKH8IggAaMGS9cIPEr"; protected-headers="v1" From: Harald Dunkel <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Subject: Re: Bug#888743: Info received (pidofproc returns PIDs in foreign chroots and containers) References: <[email protected]> <[email protected]> In-Reply-To: <[email protected]> --TVfScC6gIpuCRoVdKH8IggAaMGS9cIPEr Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Content-Language: en-US Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable PPS: Lets face it: The executable path alone is simply not suitable for finding the PID. I might have run a second daemon listening on another network interface, for example. I don't want that daemon killed just because the "regular" daemon was already shutdown before. What are the odds that the pidfile is lost without killing the daemon, anyway? Looking at the scary side effects of this feature it might be reasonable to kick out the path check completely and to rely upon the pidfile only. Would you recommend to deprecate src:lsb and replace it by a cleaned up "lsbng"?
