Hello,

I came across https://github.com/dridk/PyVCF3 as a dependency. PyVCF3 self-describes as a Python3 port of the VCF package since that original would be archived an no longer accepting patches. https://pypi.org/project/PyVCF3/ has it and so does https://anaconda.org/bioconda/pyvcf3 .

So I somehow feel that Debian should also just go and package it. Admittedly though, I do not like it. If it is truly better than the original then we should no longer ship the first. The Python module provided is "vcf" for both packages.

Opinions anyone?

Best,
Steffen
