As far as I've been involved, upstream and pristine-tar always
felt redundant to me, despite trying to understand the reasons
why the latter was introduced in typical Debian workflows.  With
the move to tag2upload, I would agree it would be a good time to
sunset our pristine-tar usage if we want to simplify things.
That being said, I would wait for more experienced Developpers
to comment on the topic, since I feel I might miss some
rationale for using pristine-tar which could still apply.
