This has the potential to be a heated discussion.

One factor in the strong reasons to push this concern to the public mailing
lists is that some abhorrent comments on the topic were shared in our IRC
channel, which is semi-public (as in you can find it if you look for it, or
happen to be there) and I think many of those comments would never have
been made in public. So now we do this in the public sphere in the light of
view because Debian works out its problems and discussions in the light.

That being said, we need many voices on this topic in order to give the
respect that the influence of this decision could have, or trickle down, to
and across several other organizations and communities.

As we go down this path, we should do our best to speak on technical,
procedural, and statistical arguments over the favor of purely emotional
and political arguments. While both argument styles can serve to bolster
viewpoints, the distinction between ones perspective and others perception
should not be co-mingled to the point that one loses their point by the way
of distraction.

This is something that is not easy to do with a group of passionate people
on a topic of concern to them.

As Roberto stated, let us consider to lead by example. Let us stick to the
merits of the discussion knowing that this email dialogue is just the 1st
volley in the now that is prior to a FOSDEM discussion later, and perhaps
toward something that has the potential to become a General Resolution on
Debian's usage of social media.

Let us author our posts to the archives of history accordingly.

For the record, I did find the AI insertion humorous. We are certainly
going to need some humor here. :)
