What about using https instead? That will always be possible to use.

But you should definitely start to work on that package within your 
namespace first and do not push your modification to the DPT namespace 
directly!
And as mentioned in another email, get in contact with the current 
maintainers before work in deep! The version in the archive is quite 
fresh and got into the archive recently.
