For the moment, I've checked

about a bug in the "info" utility for the resolution of cross references,
and and while this bug seems to have been fixed in trixie (7.1.1-1+b1)
and in 7.2-5, it has reappeared in 7.2.92-1 (with internal behavior a
bit different from 6.8-6, according to strace)!
