Our project has had multiple phases in the past where the interest for the
DPL position has been very low. Something to improve that institutionally
would be something to discuss (after the election is over). You know the
demands of the job better than me :D

Thinking from a perspective of a reluctant candidate, I would appreciate a
way to either candidate conditionally, like by sending a signed email to
the secretary "I nominate myself on the condition that less than 2 nominees
are in the running at the end of nomination period" and/or providing a
agreed way to revoke their candidacy after nomination period or even
(before the voting) declaring support for another (nominated) candidate
instead (like "all preferences to me are to be counted as preferences to
candidate Z instead").

The idea being to allow it easier for (presumably well known Developers) to
reliably act as backstop candidates, but also allow them the flexibility of
stepping aside in favor of another well qualified candidate who decided to
apply at the last moment.
