Alright, it's been a bit more than a week, but I consider this ready now. I've fixed some things that Joost mentioned to me personally, also added a man page (based on the project's REAMDE) and fixed a lot of other lintian complaints. (It still warns about 'hyphen-in-upstream-part-of-debian-changelog-version', since the 2.0.2 release tag is missing in the upstream repo, I've resorted to a 'git describe'-style version number.)
