This is a rewrite of mkdocs (already in Debian) with parts of rust,
which aims to retain some backwards compatibility.

This is important because mkdocs 2.0 breaks a lot of plugins and old
design. A few of the reasoning is available upstream in:

https://mail.zensical.org/monthly/2026/02/
https://squidfunk.github.io/mkdocs-material/blog/2024/08/19/how-were-transforming-material-for-mkdocs/

It should be relatively similar to mkdocs, but a few features are still
missing, see:

https://zensical.org/compatibility/

Right now, the biggest missing features are:

- blog
- social cards
- tag lists
- revisioning

Third-party plugins are also not necessarily supported yet.
