This is now done.

Any objections on removing the stable link?
We are in the development part of the webpage, and at the very top of that
page we have a hint pointing to the stable page for information about stable 
release. 
Thus pointing to the stable installation-guide from that page can be considered
as inconsistency and maybe error-prone.
