The webpages describing the samba packages in Debian has a somewhat misleading first sentence - it says that samba can function as an "NT4-style domain controller" which implies that it cannot perform as an Active Directory domain controller, which of course it can since version 4.   Clearly this sentence was missed when  the package was updated from version 3.
