Since it hadn't been required before, I'm wondering > whether it would make sense to have only the (deb) library pull it, and > for the udeb to skip it? Or would it better to just pull pci.ids into > the installer as well? The package pci.ids is basically only the file /usr/share/misc/pci.ids [1]. This file is used in many places [2]. I (randomly) looked at pciutils and the data (in stripped form) appears to be provided by pciutils-udeb [3], so the file is most probably already available for the installer. For the udeb version of libpciaccess it would probably be sufficient to have a 'Suggest' again instead of a 'Depends' (or alternatively a pci-ids.udeb package) With kind regards, Roland Clobus [1] https://packages.debian.org/sid/all/pci.ids/filelist [2] https://codesearch.debian.net/search?q=%2Fusr%2Fshare%2Fmisc%2Fpci.ids&literal=1 [3] https://sources.debian.org/src/pciutils/1:3.15.0-2/debian/rules?hl=47#L47
