well, here are my reasons:

1. if the harddisk is big enough, there is just no need for removing 
kde_stable. rob: is there enough harddisk space? :-) i'll prolly need 1.2gb, 
totally.

2. it's great for temporary-downgrading. it got pretty much the same package 
structure as the newer releases, so a downgrade is really at your fingertips. 
and even the KDE_DEV_RELEASES could break once in a while. (e.g. kmail tends 
to... i hate it if i can't read my mail with kmail)
