I installed latest kde cvs and my kde menu has totally disappeared

need to use kmenuedit and edit all the menu and submenu on my own?

thanx in advance

Try right-clicking on the K-Menu and opening the menu editor. After I did
that, all my menus worked again.

the menu editor doesn't launch and my menus are still not back. and when I
launch kmenuedit it's all empty

I experienced this as well, not to mention that my Debian tree
structure that lists all non-KDE apps is missing the following shell
scripts: kde-update-menu.sh and kdm-update-menu.sh alternatives link
under /usr/bin for /etc/kde3/debian, but that's a separate annoyance.

My approach to fixing this was to get kmenuedit to launch and then hit
Scan to check for updates. Once I got the usual list of suspects that
always seem to not be referenced--most standard X apps--I closed the
app and refreshed the desktop a few times, selected K-menu and the menu
system was there minus all the Debian referenced structure under
/etc/kde3/debian.

I noticed that /var/lib/kdm/menu lists all the missing application
references but I can't seem to find where I would need to reference
this so that K-Menu would update accordingly. I'm bettin' on the
missing aforementioned shell scripts have something to do with this.
