Knoppix Hdd Install

Hello, new member here.

I am going to install Knoppix 3.3 09-2003 as a dual boot with XP on hda.

XP is already installed on hda1 (7.5g partition, fat32).
The remaining 12g on hda is unformated freespace.

Question - Should I create the linux partitions and format them BEFORE
running sudo knoppix-installer?

Also, is cfdisk or qtparted the default tool that runs from the
knoppix-installer script?
