How to change CD-ROM spindown timeout?

I would like to increase the timeout of CD-ROM spindown, because coming
up from that mode takes way too long, and currently in Knoppix it spins
down in less then a minute.
There is IDE-SCSI emulation, so hdparm -S doesn't work.
