Well *that* is rather interesting. We have considered dropping Alpha 
support because we couldn't find somebody with that hardware any more.

The patch you mentioned has the following bug fix associated with it:

Please make sure that you got this, but when 5.11.11 doesn't work either 
I would expect that.
