Indeed, I should have read the FAQ, rather than the website which states "[We] have started to offer GNU/Hurd as a development, server and desktop platform," I guess.... I was hoping that one could install the "desktop platform" as one OS in a multiboot machine and then play with it a bit, expecting perhaps not 100% hardware support. Reading the FAQ the rather minimal hardware support makes me wonder whether it is worth my while to invest time. I have had a very similar experience with MINIX-3, detailed websites, mailing lists, and when you finally get it to run you are informed that "o, yes, by the way, there is no C compiler, but feel free to port GCC if you want to". OK, I will study a bit more and see what I can do. I will probably try to install through SystemRescueCD or Ubuntu Live USB. If that doesn't work I will probably spend my time on other endeavors.
