Hey Marcin,

The 32 bit Hurd is still being developed!  More development focus is slowly moving
toward the 64 bit version.   From this wiki page:

https://hurd.ion.nu/faq/64-bit.html  --> this is the more recent wiki.

"We plan on supporting both a 32-bit and 64-bit Debian GNU/Hurd, only not both at the same time.
However, there is no plan to fix the year 2038 concern on a 32-bit system."

It's a good idea to read this entire wiki page.  It has instructions for how to install
the latest packages:

https://www.debian.org/ports/hurd/hurd-install

Let me know if you still can't install newer packages.

Also, if you have access to an older Thinkpad, then you can try out the amd64 Hurd!
I'm running the Hurd on a Thinkpad T420 with 12 GB of RAM!  X, i3, emacs, netsurf, dino-im,
and netscape all work swimingly!
