From the log and the content of the script, it looks as though examples/frame-counter (source code: examples/frame-counter.c) is segfaulting whenever it was run with "--video-codec mpeg4" (but not for 512kb-28fps.ogv). This might actually be a bug in libavcodec (ffmpeg), which gegl seems to use to process these videos.
