test failures in scalapack 2.0 build on mips64el

scalapack 2.0.2 in experimental seems to build well enough on mips64el.
   But there are 2 kinds of errors thrown during tests from
dh_auto_test (the build-openmpi tests are the important ones, since
they all pass on other linux arches. build-mpich fails some tests on
all arches).

Some tests trigger a segfault (in the most recent build it happens
while running build-openmpi/TESTING/xsdblu and .../xdhrd).  These kinds
of SegFaults have been happening regularly but inconsistently, with a
different test executable segfaulting in each build (5 build logs now
available in -1exp2 to -1exp6).  Running by hand on a porterbox, the
tests pass individually.

Test 92 (build-openmpi/TESTING/xdsyevr) fails consistently in later
builds (in earlier builds it times out ).  The error message is:

    [eberlin:11107] *** reported by process [18446744073674162177,0]
    [eberlin:11107] *** on communicator MPI COMMUNICATOR 8 DUP FROM 7
    [eberlin:11107] *** MPI_ERR_RANK: invalid rank
    [eberlin:11107] *** MPI_ERRORS_ARE_FATAL (processes in this communicator will now abort,
    [eberlin:11107] ***    and potentially your MPI job)

    Is there anything different about mips64el that might trigger this kind
    of error (the test passes on other linux arches) ?
