It should be booting (or trying to boot) whatever you specify in BootX 
(note that you may need to copy the kernel from /boot in Linux to 
"System Folder"->"Linux Kernels", or wherever you save Linux kernels in 
Mac OS.

I think if you see nothing after booting from BootX, that's a different 
problem.
