Re: Updated Debian Ports installation images 2025-12-06

First, thank you for these images!


At the moment, I only had time to test them the ppc one, on MacMini G4.

At installation, I tried to install Mate when comes the choice of 
desktop environment and that failed with a red screen.

I switched to Xfce, that worked. Even if with it, the desktop appears 
but then, when the background image is displayed, the menu and the 
toolbar at the bottom disappear.

I saw that there was a variant with wayland but the session fails to open.

Finally I installed LXDE that runs well at the moment.

Please note that with the installation on this machine, I have an UBSAN 
issue:

UBSAN: shift-out-of-bounds in 
/build/reproducible-path/linux-6.16.9/drivers/video/fbdev/core/fb_fillrect.h:100:21
shift exponent 32 is too large for 32-bit type 'long unsigned int'

On the PowerBook G4, as it does not detect the USB key for installation, 
I upgraded the previously installed version, kernel 6.12.21-1 
(2025-03-30). That brought the kernel to 6.18.3-1 (2026-01-02) and the 
system works well (I use LXDE). However I noticed that at shutdown, it 
stays on "waiting for process dhcpcd" for a while.


I will try to test on G5 PowerMac too.
