Hello together,
as already announced, our Linux on Z training series will start next Tuesday, 17th March 2026, in our openSUSE zSystems meeting channel:
https://meet.opensuse.org/s390x
The time will be 19:00 (German time)/ 10:00 (Pacific time)/ 18:00 (Nigeria) / 14:00 (Brazil).
Everybody is welcome!

Are you fresh in the mainframe area or do you want to know, how a mainframe looks like?
Then the first session is the best for receiving such an introduction.

We will cover following topics:
1) IBM z15 versus LinuxONE III
2) History of LinuxONE systems
3) How does a mainframe looks like?
4) Specific hardware (LPAR, network cards, storage, …)
5a) Crypto support (CPACF, Crypto Express Card)
5b) Pervasive Encryption
6) z/VM and KVM for Virtualization
7) (official/in-official) supported Linux distributions
8) VMs in the LinuxONE (OSS) Community Cloud

Afterwards, you are enabled for doing your first steps with Linux on Z environments.
You will know, how the sstem is look like for what you want to build and what are specific hardware requirements.

You will receive such invitations bi-weekly (also for the next training sessions)!
That is a lot for 90 minutes. Therefore, it is good to have a break for thinking about the content before jumping to the next topics for becoming a professional Linux on Z Developer. :-)

Best regards,
Sarah and Ihno
