Hello together, after a successful mainframe introduction and one hands-on workshop, we want to continue with a Z architecture training as part of our bi-weekly training series. The next training session will be next Tuesday, 14th April 2026, in our openSUSE zSystems meeting channel: https://meet.opensuse.org/s390x The time will be 19:00 (German time)/ 10:00 (Pacific time)/ 18:00 (Nigeria) / 14:00 (Brazil). Everybody is welcome! Do you want to understand build failures with strange numbers and the different byte orders on s390x? Are you surprised about the word "Big Endian" and wants to learn the difference to "Little Endian"? Then the session is for you! We will cover following topics: 1) The system topology of s390x (incl. cache) 2) Storage addresses and registers 3) Virtual/Dynamic Address Translation 4) Basic Instructions 5) Byte ordering This training is based on z15, because the open source community is forced to stay on z15 hardware! Therefore, the training does not contain any new z16 or z17 functionalities in the Z architecture. Afterwards, you will have a better understanding about the Z/mainframe architecture, that you can fix bugs based on wrong byte orders. You will receive such invitations bi-weekly (also for the next training sessions)! That is a lot for 90 minutes. Therefore, it is good to have a break for thinking about the content before jumping to the next topics for becoming a professional Linux on Z Developer. 🙂 Best regards, Sarah and Ihno openSUSE zSystems
