I had similar results, with both kernels:
linux-image-6.12.38+1-sparc64-smp_6.12.38-1+sparc64_sparc64.deb and linux-image-6.12+unreleased-sparc64-smp_6.12.43-1+nothp1_sparc64.deb

I did that, and it helps sometimes. But it's really unpredictable, sometimes the machine won't boot at all even after leaving the power off for several minutes.

But even with this workaround, I often got to the point where the system would crash quickly after starting to do something serious (like apt upgrade).
