I just started from the way I'd mount a ramdisk with a file system on it 
and changed the file system type to tmpfs - but you are right: changing 
/dev/ram0 does work and it does look better, ideed. ;-)

Before (changing /dev/ram0 to tmpfs):

/dev/ram0             125M  456K  125M   1% /ram1/tmp

After:

tmpfs                 125M  456K  125M   1% /ram1/tmp

This output was produced with "df -h".
