Might be the missing package.

Which ones of akonadi-backend-mysql, akonadi-backend-postgresql and 
akonadi-backend-sqlite are installed ?

What's the otput of "~/.config/akonadi/akonadiserverrc" ? Most 
interesting is the line "Driver=..." under [General].

It could be that you were running akonadi-backend-mysql in the past and 
that akonadi-backend-sqlite (the new default) has been installed instead 
during the upgrade.
