I hid the on-screen keyboard and rebooted, but it appeared again. In a subsequent email you asked about /etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf. I don't have this file on my system! Strangely, I don't have any of the config locations described in the wiki. https://wiki.debian.org/SDDM -Steve
