shortly after new install, I found that some packages and libraries are NOT
marked as automatically installed.

Also, I often use aptitude and I have few times noticed that packages lost
their auto-installed status.  Luckily it can be easily fixed in aptitude.
I have no idea when this happend but it happened a few times.

as a result I often go manually through package lists and manually mark
packages as auto-installed.  They are mostly -data, -common, -base and
libraries, but I often mark auto-installed packages other packages depend
on.
