Hi Tib,

I once had the same problem with the annoying beep on every start and 
shutdown. What worked for me was to disable the PC speaker entirely by 
blacklisting its driver. I did this by placing a .conf file with content 
'blacklist pcspkr' into '/etc/modprobe.d/'
