I know that linux-headers (for currently used kernel version) are needed to properly install nvidia-driver package (from Debian repo), because nvidia DKMS modules must be compiled during such installation, but it seems there is a bug which makes it does not work for a new 6.12 kernels (tested on initial 6.12.5 and current 6.12.6 in Trixie). After I've already sent my initial message here, I've found a bug report in BTS: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1089513 According to the last comments, there is a patch available which fixes the issue, so I hope it will be applied in the next nvidia-driver package release for Debian (and hopefully before Trixie become a new stable). Right now I'm back on kernel 6.11 which works fine with nvidia-driver package version 535.216 (available in Trixie repo), so I removed 550 drivers from nvidia web page as mentioned in initial email here and stayed on the official one from Trixie repo.
