Obsolete information in debian-handbook? (linux-patch-* packages)

Hello. In the context of kernel patching, the Debian Administrator's Handbook mentions linux-patch-* packages. I have never heard of packages like that, and no such packages appear to exist in any current Debian release. Is the information in the Handbook obsolete?
