That wouldn't surprise me.I'd suggest you use 3.0r6 - the packages won't 
be significantly different from 3.0r1 but will incorporate all of the
fixes between 3.0r0 and 3.0r6

My suggestion would be to run this using something like qemu - I find
virt-machine to be useful.
