This might rather be a third thread. I suspect that this is related to the changes in configuration syntax by dovecot. Debian Trixie release notes say something about dovecot [1]. As the release notes also say, more information directly from dovecot is here [2]. I myself didn't switch my server running dovecot to trixie yet, I didn't get around to implementing and testing a new dovecot configuration, the syntax changes didn't seem trivial.

I learned that is important to read release notes the hard way. But it really is worth while doing.
